What do I receive as part of my registration fee?

Registration provides you with a credential that allows full access to the event including the Main Stage (General Sessions), concurrent sessions, movie screenings and the Big Book Club Boulevard exhibition.  You will also receive a Big Book Club Getaway gift bag, along with an event information handout outlining the latest schedule of speakers and activities.  A portion of event proceeds will benefit charity.

How is the information presented?

Our sessions are primarily lecture-style, with many presenters using audio-video technology.  The format is informal, and will vary based on the presenter; some sessions feature product sampling and workshop activities.  Authors are generally available to sign books at the conclusion of their presentations, and most sessions feature a question & answer period.  If you cannot get your question answered during a session, most presenters are very accessible throughout the event.

Can I videotape the presentations?

No, we do not allow videotaping. 

What is The Big Book Club Boulevard exhibition?

The exhibitor area will include local and regional authors, book publishers, artists, fashion accessories, educational information and more.

Do you have any special hotel rates for attendees?

Special hotel rates for the Big Book Club Getaway will be available at the beautiful Mohegan Sun Hotel (parking is complimentary and the hotel is attached to the Convention Center for easy access to the event) and the nearby Hyatt Place.  We encourage you to make your reservations early as these room blocks will sell out.

Are there any meals provided?

No, all meals are your responsibility, and we strongly recommend that you make dinner reservations well in advance.  The Mohegan Sun features a broad range of eating establishments that are within easy walking distance to the Convention Center, including Geno’s Fastbreak Food Court.

What should I wear to the Big Book Club Getaway?

We encourage everyone to dress up for the Friday night opening presentation. Following the reception we encourage you to experience the many fabulous restaurants, nightclubs, casinos, spa and shops that the resort has to offer.  We recommend wearing comfortable clothes for the Saturday sessions including yoga-wear for the Big Yoga Class.

If someone who has pre-registered cannot attend, can a substitution be made?

Yes, email us at colleen@lafrancoismarketing.com with the replacement’s information as soon as you know there will be a substitution, and we will make the change.

What is the event refund policy?

No refunds for event registration will be given after December 15, 2013.

What happens if there is inclement weather during the event?

The Big Book Club Getaway will go on as scheduled, even in the event of inclement weather.  For updates regarding the event, you are always free to check the website at www.bigbookclubgetaway.com.  Also, be sure to “like” the Big Book Club Getaway on Facebook and follow up on Twitter for the latest news and announcements related to the event.
